When It Happened

“Even the smallest act of service, the simplest act of kindness, is a way to honor those we lost, a way to reclaim that spirit of unity that followed 9/11.”

~Barak Obama

For those of us that are old enough, we all remember where we were and what we were doing this day 20 years ago. I was a stay-at-home-mom; Cole was 11 months old and I was 6 months pregnant with Carson. I was sick and Thomas had stayed home from work to help because, well, that was just a lot. A friend called to ask if I was watching tv because something strange was happening. We turned on the news - the first plane had hit. And then we watched the news nonstop for weeks. I remember how united the country was. American flags were sold out everywhere. The whole world was on our side. As devastating as that day was, I wish our country still felt the way we did in the following months - patriotic, supportive, loyal, prayerful, and proud. Proud of the police officers, fire fighters, first responders, the President, and all the unnamed people who stepped up to help complete strangers.

And then came Homes for Heroes®.

When we first heard about Homes for Heroes®, we knew it was something we wanted to provide to our clients. It is a small way for us to thank local heroes for being who they are - even though most of them do not view themselves as heroes. We would love to share more information with you about this amazing program. Click here to visit our personal Homes for Heroes® website.
